FAQ > Who Should Go?

Innsbruck's nightlife is decent enough for fun-loving groups and solo travelers. This is Europe, after all- there are always plenty of backpackers to strike up a conversation with, if that's what you're looking for.

Need we even mention it, this is a very romantic destination as well, perfect for couples.

Just about the only skiers who wouldn't want to come to Innsbruck are those who are looking for a wide variety of genuine challenges on the snow. Advanced terrain is not the forte of this area.

FAQ > Elevation

  • Maximum skiable vertical drop: 1,760 meters/5,774 feet
  • Bottom of lowest lift: 574 meters/1,883 feet
  • Top of highest lift: 2,334 meters/7,657 feet

The mountains in the Innsbruck area offer some very good trails, lifts, and cable cars that will take you to the top of almost any mountain. Most trips at the busy resorts will take you about one hour to get up during peak season between December and February, mostly because of huge lines in the mornings and afternoons.

For advanced skiers, you may sometimes find the Stubai Glacier and other advanced trails closed due to avalanche threats. However, snow conditions at most other runs are usually excellent, deep (15 to 20 inches), and above the tree line, which makes skiing superb for hot-doggers.
